Description

Something drastic has happened in Morganville while Claire and her friends were away. The town looks cleaner and happier than they’ve ever seen it before, but when their incoming group is arrested and separated—vampires from humans—they realize that the changes definitely aren’t for the better. Let's begin with the characters. I adore the main character Claire. I found her so easy to relate to and I thought she was pretty much everything a main character should be. Eve, Shane and Michael are three other main characters who I would honestly die for at this point. We all need a best friend like Eve and guys like Shane and Michael in our lives. I don't want to say much more about them, because discovering these four people were one of the things that made this book amazing.

Houses similar to Claire's own, these houses are located throughout Morganville. They are connected to each other through Ada, Myrnin's invention that keeps up memory barriers in town (later replaced by Frank Collins, Shane's father). Amelie often makes her appearances in these houses in the early novels. Houses referred to in the novels include the Glass house, the Day house, and Claire's parents house. The final book, Daylighters, continues with a new boss in town taking out vampires, and it’s up to Claire, Shane, and Eve to stop him. The author praises the book for delivering awesome, fast-paced action and a twisty plot. She also reflects on the character’s growth throughout the series, particularly Claire’s development into a strong, independent friend and ally. She is sad to say goodbye to Morganville but is happy with how it ends, with hope and happiness. There is no real romance, some looks between characters, hand holding, bit of smooching, but Claire is ‘jail bait’ , so understandable.I had moments where my jaw dropped, I was scared, and I was biting my nails in anticipation. I was sad when it ended and was ready to rush out to get the next volume, but I don't have it yet. Took me a while to get into the writing. As soon as the plot took shape though I had no problem with it. Her roommates take her in after she promises not to cause any trouble for them. They warn her not to leave the house, but she has to go to… you know, to class and all, so she doesn’t take their warning to heart. Once in campus, the mean girls grab her again, and so Claire calls her roommates to come to her rescue (HUH?)

I don't want to give too much away but like always, Caine is in it to impress. She takes her characters from their comfy homes into the outskirts of Texas where danger both human and vamp is waiting for them.Things to know: 1) Eve’s new friend is a bitch, 2) Morley is an important character, 3) Amelie is being suicidal, 4) Ada is evil, and 5) Myrnin may be cured, but he is still crazy-ish. I first read the Morganville Vampires series about four years ago, at the beginning of my experience with Paranormal and Urban-Fantasy. At the time I though Twilight and The House of Night were THE SHIT so this wasn't my favorite because it's much darker. But now, 4 years later, I still like this when I can't even stand to read the first book of the other two series. Also I felt Claire and Michael had more of a romantic connection than Claire and Shane, but I guess I'll see where this series goes All of the characters continue to grow and change which adds to the story. Claire has gone from a timid brainiac to a tough, yet still caring person, trying to keep alive even the vampires if she can. Her relationship with Shane has been well developed and seems very natural. Shane also continues to mature in his dealings with the world. Eve and Michael are struggling a bit with where they're heading together and is there ulitmately a together for them? I liked that this book begins to ask that question or maybe the question actually is, what is the future for Michael? Or for any of them? She gets badly beaten by a group of mean girls at campus who threaten to kill her. However, that doesn’t mean that she’ll call her parents and request a school change, because a quitter she is not (huh?)
