Rules are included for five different subfactions of Gitz.Da King’s Gitz are the most numerous of all the troglodyte hordes, and can re-roll the dice when trying to return destroyed units to the table using the Loonshrine’s Moonclan Lairs ability. The Badsnatchers are sneaky and magical, and get better at spell casting when they gang up close to each other. Bitey Squigs include any squiggly beast with sufficient jaws, claws and stingers to savage the target and anything standing close by. They are a favourite ammunition for Ork Squig Launchas. Launched gnashing and snarling into the enemy, they latch onto the first thing they hit and do not stop chewing until they are bludgeoned, stomped or shot to death. Just one, and it’s a weird one. Troggherd Heavies has a required Troggboss, one Dankhold Troggoth and no optional units. For this you get the Magnificent ability. This is actually OK, Dankholds are no longer totally embarrassing, and this is an easy battalion to fulfil for a decent reward. Why there is just one core battalion and only for Troggs is another question, but it’s what we’ve got. Grand Strategies Buzzer Squigs are an insect-like variation of the Squig typically used by Orks in a Squig Katapult, as they are very vicious and a swarm can strip the flesh off a man-sized creature within seconds. Buzzer Squigs are found among Ork fungus groves and are trapped in pots by Gretchin. The special pots are made from sun-baked mud, drilled with tiny holes to allow the Squigs inside to breathe. The top of the vessel is corked shut and sealed with more mud once a good number of Squigs has been put inside. There are so many cool touches on this model, including that the moon on his staff is a mushroom and the pygmy helper squigs carrying his cloak. The pose of the model definitely apes royalty (whether of the royal family or beauty queen style).

The Loonshrine is a sacred icon to the Gloomspite Gitz and carries a sliver of the Bad Moon’s power. Gloomspite Gitz units wholly within 12” of the shrine count as being bathed in the light of the Bad Moon. There’s 2 major reasons people generally like the gitz: They like the underdogs, or they like the silliness (or both!). Gitz have been seen as the underdog army basically from Age of Sigmar’s inception. Their rules have always been a bit haphazard, weaker than equivalent units and subject to a lot of randomness. This does have a certain appeal to a kind of person who didn’t really care about winning and just wanted to cause some chaos on the table. The Loonking wants to cover all the Mortal Realms in the Clammy-Dank and he has already achieved this in one part of Chamon Squigs are fang-filled mouths on legs that bounce across the battlefield. All squigs move a random distance, so neither you nor your opponent can predict quite where they’ll end up. Some grots are brave, foolhardy or insane enough to ride squigs into battle like lethal space-hoppers. Possibly the most insane living weapons to be unleashed upon the Mortal Realms, Mangler Squigs crash, bound and roll across the battlefield leaving trails of torn and broken bodies in their wake. Few creatures are held in such high esteem by grots as the humble squig. They defy reason – orblike bundles of teeth with stomachs that continue to confound top zoologists. How do they eat so much? Where does it all go? How do they bounce so high? Do they have any non-gastric organs at all?

The Moonclan Grots battletome was teased at Blood and Glory, the UK’s largest Warhammer Age of Sigmar event, in the studio preview. Mork’s Mighty Mushroom: Another I haven’t tried. It seems so bad on paper I didn’t even bother. An Endless Spell that has a random range and stays in place doesn’t seem like much use to me. Age of Sigmar is usually a pretty dynamic game so I doubt anyone would hang out near it for long. And while there are certainly static gunlines out there I don’t want to shell out 80 points for a spell that is only really great against those types of armies. Plus those same types are usually magic heavy and will probably just unbind it anyway. Loonshrine The new Squig Hopper kit also makes an armoured variant called the Boingrot Bounders. Crazy goblin knights ahoy! Slower but hit harder and have more armour than squig hoppers. Gloomspite Gitz Wizardsunder the Bad Moon get +1 to their casting rolls, while all other wizards get -1

Command Ability: ‘Get Some Loonshine on ’em!’

For veteran players, going from being a surprisingly magically powerful army to a fairly mediocre one will sting. But that old army was the worst in the game for most of its lifespan. In trade, just about everything got better on a base warscroll level, the keywords are easier to work with and the core moon mechanic will be better to play with.
