True connoisseurs and collectors of vintages will probably disagree with me, but I consider Les Légendires Guerlain a true revival of great fragrances. It seems they are better than the previous attempts to re-release the same Guerlain classics; the new ones are much more similar to originals, to the best vintage samples. There is a ghost of chrysanthemum, bitter and dramatic. I know that matthiolas and chrysanthemums are not really in L'Heure Bleue... But for me, they are there; I smell them every time I wear this perfume. What a beautiful tribute that is worthy of this stunning perfume. I struggle to write words about it, because they don't seem to do it justice or fully encapsulate all that it is. The most I can say is that for me it stands outside of time, like a visitor watching the past, present, and future roll by. This article is inspiring and makes me want to wear it and create my own art in its honor.The tuberose is oilier in a vintage version, but despite all my love for this flower, it is not that important in L'Heure Bleue. L'Heure Bleue is, first of all, summer twilight, filled with the scents of flowers and quiet sighs of nature resting from the heat, bringing long-awaited silence and coolness, stretching slowly and sweetly. Wonderful hours of conversation and love. Hours when it is a waste to sleep, when you want to be alone with yourself now that you feel the beauty of life especially strongly. Obviously, I use perfumes that I love more often than all others. But L'Heure Bleue Guerlain is an exception. I rarely wear it. I take this bottle from the cool darkness in those special moments when I need peaceful silence - inside and around me. L'Heure Bleue not only soothes the senses but also muffles all the real and emotional noises of the world. Of course, this is only an illusion, but it is very strong. When I want comfort and detachment, I know where to get it: in a bottle of L'Heure Bleue. These feelings are stronger and more important to me than physical comfort – although I also appreciate cuddly and cozy fragrances. But L'Heure Bleue, first, reaches the soul growing into its very depth, simultaneously wrapping me in a protective, comfortable cocoon.
L'Heure Bleue was created as a fragrance that describes the beauty and pleasure of the "blue hour"; it admirably tells about the fading day and anticipation of the night's amusement. Its violets, irises, and even orange blossom are graciously melancholic due to a touch of heliotrope powder and lilac mist... But their melancholy is lighthearted. The still commonly presented incorrect explanation claims that Earth's post-sunset and pre-sunrise atmosphere solely receives and disperses the sun's shorter blue wavelengths and scatters the longer, reddish wavelengths to explain why the hue of this hour is so blue. I too, and thankful for Les Légendaires to continue on this and other Guerlain traditions (think Apres L'Ondee) that are compelling and timeless. Carnation, once very much loved in perfumery and now rejected by many, blooms in L'Heure Bleue both as a fresh and hot flower and a burning, bitter spice. But there is more to L'Heure Bleue than the spiciness of the carnation and clove. Plusieurs œuvres (chansons, romans, peintures) sont appelées ainsi, ou comme sa traduction anglophone, blue hour.
