Description

But considering its price compared to Beats, the products look promising and polished. The foam pads, leather, and metal bands on the inside are also of decent quality. Skullcandy offers some of the most colorful headphones on the market. If you like to match your tech accessories to your outfits, they tend to have several color schemes for each model, including two or three-tone variants and camo/military color schemes. section_header}}{{section.name}}{{/section_header}} The Aviators don't sport bad audio quality, but it really feels like you're paying for the style effect.

Calling a landline got similar results: Our grandmother sounded submerged. On the plus side, she reported that we sounded nice and clear throughout the conversation. So finally Skullcandy and I meet face to face – cans at dawn! One mild mannered audiophile facing the wrath of the extreme sports icon of low-fi headphones and right in the middle is this headphone called the Aviator. Do I turn my nose up, fire from both hi-fi guns and walk away or do I sit down and make peace with the Skullcandy bandido? Yes I make peace with the bandido and the Aviator headphone is all to blame for it! These are very comfy and are easy to put on however, despite it supposedly being a over ear headphone, the wear more like an on ear, with most of the apd sitting on my earlobe. Not a big deal as the pads are very soft. the bass wasnt very clear or impressive and just doesnt sound as good as the HD518s which, for a cheaper pair of headphones, had a much clearer bass sound that really sounded like a stand up bass. I knew that the Aviators and Mix Masters were for the most part well received here. I tried them on before but they didnt impress me. Since I was looking for some portable headphones i decided to give these a shot. There are many existing differences between the Skullcandy and Beats products. Although both the companies were founded a few years apart, there are many signature contrasts between their line of products.

Certainly visually impressive, the Skullcandy Aviators offer middling performance for a mobile set of headphones, but they certainly are far from ideal for the price you’d pay. Despite their fashionability, they have quite a few concerns that warrant pause before buying something. Beats headphones, in general, have a flashy and glossy appearance compared to Skullcandy. For the most part, Beats headphones have a B logo on them that matches the headphone’s shade. In buying a Skullcandy headphone, you will find the build quality quite robust and dense. However, the plastic yoke they provide is not as durable as the rest of the design. For this I used portable gear only assuming the interested buyer will be a mobile orientated DAP wielding dude or dudette. I paired them with an Ipod 5.5g and ran it across as range of amps from the expensive – Ibasso PB2, to the mid, the C&C X02 and the budget friendly but stellar FiiO E17 and the evil darker twin – the FiiO E11.

Lineup

Skullcandy hail from Utah and is approaching its tenth anniversary in business. The brand focuses on the “Outdoor sports” demographic of surfin’, skatin’and basejumpin’ adrenalin junkies. The Aviator is part of the over ear range and partners distinctive styling with sonic involvement from the Roc Nation artist group that includes Jay-Z. Who knew that these legends of rap would be such capable headphone engineers?

Skullcandy is a renowned company based in the United States that sells many audio-related products such as speakers, earphones, and headphones. On the other hand, Beats is based in the United States and works as a subsidiary of the Apple Corporation. Just like Skullcandy, audio products are the primary line of focus for Beats as well. Skullcandy has a specific name for each model they release, so it can be unclear how their headphones are categorized. Sometimes, there are feature-specific variants of that model available. For this brand, we consider these variants (and their base model) as constituting a lineup. This includes the following:However, if you want to trade off some of these qualities for a price cut. In that case, Skullcandy is undoubtedly the more cost-effective option. Long Term Usage Their line of products has round and padded ear cups that are comforting to hear for an extended time. Features But of course all those pretty looks won’t mean a thing unless it sounds good right? Well honestly I have to admit it sounds way better than I expected. That’s 2-0 already to Skullcandy and I have only had it for a few days.

Honestly my favourite right here (but it should be, considering how much the wa6 costs), it now warmer, bassier while being clearer and more detailed, offering the most dynamic sound yet. The mids are more inline with the rest of the sound which can be good or bad depending on your taste.

In this article, you will find a detailed comparison between these two companies that will help you understand which would be the best option for you. Differences Between Skullcandy and Beats If you’re the type to not believe in burn in, you’ll probably not give the aviators a chance. On first listen, the sound was to put it bluntly horrible. Muffled, slow and congested are the initial impressions I would give to them. But after even a few hours, the sound clears up considerably. Enough that I thought, hey they actually sound good!
