In reality, this was all in my head. Once I began telling people, they could not have been more supportive of me, my career, and my decision! This learning goes beyond work and has helped me be happier in every aspect of life. Family >>> The boxes can also be a reminder that life is forgiving. No matter what happens each week, you get a new fresh box to work with the next week. It makes me want to skip the New Year’s Resolutions—they never work anyway—and focus on making New Week’s Resolutions every Sunday night. Each blank box is an opportunity to crush the week—a good thing to remember. Last year I started with ‘What a f***ing year’. The last 365 days have been far worse than most people expected. To help both you and ourselves stay conscious and avoid NeitherLand, we’ve created a Life Calendar that lays out every week of your life on one sheet of paper. We don’t typically bring products into posts, but in this case, they go hand-in-hand. Part of our process is aggregating coupons from a variety of sources but the bulk of our coupons come from a team that monitors sales and discount code releases. Often times these codes are short-lived but we do our best to update them as fast as possible. We also allow our users to submit a coupon. In thinking about my own weeks and how I tend to use them, I decided that there are two good ways to use a diamond: Looking at this spoon of diamonds, there’s one very clear question to ask: “Are you making the most of your weeks?” One of the ways we end up in NeitherLand is by not thinking about things hard enough—so one of the most critical skills is continual reflection and self-awareness. Otherwise, you can fall into an unconscious rut and waste a bunch of precious diamonds.

This post is inspired by WaitButWhy’s blog Your Life In Weeks. I strongly recommend reading this piece and more writing from Tim Urban. Given that fact, the only appropriate word to describe your weeks is precious. There are trillions upon trillions of weeks in eternity, and those are your tiny handful. Going with the “precious” theme, let’s imagine that each of your weeks is a small gem, like a 2mm, .05 carat diamond. Here’s one: I recently made the toughest career decision I have ever had to make: leaving my role as General Manager of Brilliant Hire. Over the span of 3 weeks, I agonized over this decision to the point where I began losing sleep worried about how my team would react to the decision. More than just a team, they are friends, and I worried they would be angry/disappointed/etc of me. Or that the board of advisors would be angry with me.With the pandemic ending and the world moving on, I wanted to start fresh with a bird’s eye view of all that came before. Unless otherwise stated, we could not find a student discount code for My Life in Weeks. It’s not common for online stores to offer student discounts but when they do become available we’ll list them here. In the event there is no student discount, you can still save with our coupon codes offered. Does My Life in Weeks Offer a Military or First Responder Discount? Get clear on your top priorities and what you need to do to accomplish your biggest goals. Align those goals with your purpose in life. Everyone has an Ikigai, a purpose , something they and only they are meant to do. At least, that’s what I believe. Spanish brand 4K WEEKS has a creative way for you to chronicle your life. Their 4k Weeks Poster comprises tiny boxes in which each square corresponds to one week of life—enough to fill 88 years (the average lifespan of a human). The premise is simple: color the boxes based on the number of weeks you’ve lived. Through the weeks, and in turn years, you’ll see different designs emerge and fade away as new ones come into view. It all depends on your age and time of year. Over the past year, racial tensions have become front and center around the world, ignited by the murder of George Floyd in June 2020. Racism is not new but finally the country, and world, are waking up to the significant negative impact racism has on those around us. Growing up white, in the south, I had little exposure to how many privileges my race provided. While I learned about slavery, Jim Crow laws, etc, no part of my education taught me how harmful micro-aggressions are. Or how deep systematic oppression is embedded into every part of our society from education to housing and beyond. Or how racism impacts every race other than white people such as the hate crimes Asian-Americans are facing during COVID. It seems like each and every day another horrifying act of racism is being carried out. We all have more to do.

Account icon An icon in the shape of a person's head and shoulders. It often indicates a user profile. I’m a 9'er now! This is the year, according to research from NYU’s Stern School of Business, because I am 29, I am more likely to make significant life decisions such as run a marathon, commit suicide, or seek an extramarital affair (well, I’d need to be married for this one). Per the study, “adults undertake a search for existential meaning when they approach a new decade in age … or imagine entering a new epoch, which leads them to behave in ways that suggest an ongoing or failed search for meaning”. Plot out goals for the future by making a mark on a future box and visually seeing exactly how many weeks you have to get there.I first saw a ‘weeks of your life’ style calendar advertised to me as I was browsing the web and found the concept intriguing. When I looked more closely I discovered that there are many very similar versions of these life calendars available – some are digital, and some can be bought as a printed out poster. If you’re a new parent, it might be fun to make one for your child so they can look at it later and have some info on what happened in the first few years of their life. For me, I’m focusing on the time between now and when I turn 40. I’ve got 359 weeks until this occurs. I’m ready to conquer some big goals. Watch out world! Highlight the weeks in the past in different colors to segment them into “life chapters”—i.e. High School, College, Job 1, Job 2, New City, Engagement, Marriage, etc., or maybe a whole other conception of what a life chapter means to you. You can also mark special boxes where key turning points happened. Of course, if a diamond is enjoyable but by enjoying it you’re screwing your future diamonds (an Instant Gratification Monkey specialty), that’s not so good. Likewise, if you’re using diamond after diamond to build something for your future, but it’s not making you happy and seems like a long-term thing with no end in sight, that’s not great either.

I decided to have a go at creating a version of the classic 52 weeks calendar as a fun spreadsheet project. I wanted to set up some formulas so you could enter your age and then it would pre-fill the squares up to that year. If for example you are 30 years old there are 1560 squares that need to be filled in, so you definitely don’t want to do this by hand. This year I have learned an extremely important lesson — My happiness is not tied to what others think about me. This feels obvious. And feels like something people tell you all the time. But was not something that I was living.

You can use the resources from the aforementioned blog post and print out fillable PDFs. Or you can go the easier route and do it right now on your computer. For some people being able to visualise how much time has been spent, or how much time might be left may be a motivator to use their time wisely.
