The sound profile on the Exos 9 is tuned very much towards a bass-dominant profile, which is great for parties and typical social gatherings, but isn’t the best when you’re just looking to relax with a drink and enjoy some music. They really do go above and beyond to make sure you are satisfied with the product, and I could not be any more satisfied. There are some speaker manufacturers that use digital signal processing (DSP) to make the sound wider, but there’s nothing like that going on with the Aiwa.The speaker's removable rechargeable battery gives you up to 9 hours of portable operation at full power. If you’re in the market for a rugged outdoor speaker, no matter what the Aiwa marketing or sponsored reviews may tell you, this isn’t a great idea. Keep in mind that the frequency range bottoms out at 40Hz, so if you need the bass to get lower than that for whatever reason, you should take that into consideration.

The Aiwa Exos-9 is just that, and those looking for a speaker that can play loudly for a party indoors or out will be pleased by the speaker. Having two midrange drivers also provides something of a wide, space-y sound, but it won’t be fully stereo, unless you will be standing very far from the speaker, and somehow right in front of it, leaving enough space for a bit of a soundstage to shape up. They have sent me an upgraded version of their speaker, not once, but twice, and completely free of charge.

The treble is really smooth, and doesn’t have much of a sparkle or presence, but you can EQ that from the built-in EQ of the speaker, which means that you can enjoy a much more sparkly and enjoyable speaker if you take a few moments to tweak it. it is not intended to leave your room, although if you really want and try to, you will be able to take it on a little trip with you, if you’ll be able to bear the weight.

Because the voice coil is attached to the driver's cone, this magnetic field pulls the cone back and forth, generating sound.If you're wanting a really loud speaker, that you can hear throughout your home, that'll work at a social gathering, etc. You really don't need any clearances for it, but I would leave an inch or two behind it, just for the charging wire, and airflow, other than that it is self contained. I never purchased anything from Aiwa before but definitely would from the quality of sound from this speaker. Safe to say, I can tell you I've been through this process, as I've had my second unit since mid 2019, and it was because of some capacitor shorting out in the Bluetooth module on my first unit. We wonder if this is because the Exos 9 is not necessarily made as an outdoor speaker, and it is assumed that one has more frequent access to power to recharge.

Perfect for tailgates, camping, backyard fun, the beach, fishing, or any other outdoor activity where nature forgot to install power outlets. Furthermore, if you want to significantly increase its battery capacity, you can always purchase an extra battery for just a few USD, making the entire package quite reliable. If you put that all together, you’ll realize that it’s not the most portable of speakers and there’s a reason for that. This is a large configuration for a single speaker, and the fact there are two midrange drivers, and two tweeters makes the sound kinda spacey, rather than a fully mono speaker that sounds entirely mono, like the Yamaha WX021 Music Cast 20 was.

The Exos-9 comes with an 18,500 mAh battery which only equates to about 10 hours of battery life under normal usage. This ain’t one of those small-ish portable Bluetooth speakers, this is something that will keep your party going if you install it in a large hall.
