I love the way the author relates a universal matter to all children helping them understand that color has no gender.This is a truly enlightening book about accepting individuality and a must have for any child’s bookshelf. I think this is a good way to introduce that just because society associates colors with gender, blue does not mean boy and pink does not mean girl.

I do feel, however, that the dual themes could be a little confusing as the main character has such a fully pink shadow. I bought this story for my 4 year old little boy who loves to dress up in a tutu or dress and loves his Frozen water bottle.
