One Hate' by Aaron Dembski-Bowden - Crimson Fists aid the Imperial Guard while on a mission of their own. Out of the 8 stories I liked the ones that stood out the best and that made this anthology worthwhile were: Honor Among Fiends, Fires of War, Labyrinth, Headhunted, And They Shall Know No Fear, and, One Hate(details on each in my updates). Gauntlet Run by Chris Roberson was rubbish, his Space Marines are too ordinary, his action pedestrian.

Amidst heavy casualties and combat unceasing, a number of Space Marines of the Avenging Sons chapter — currently on "penitence patrol" due to previous dishonourable actions - grow disillusioned with their role in the quelling of a global uprising and decide upon a most rebellious course. I was going on vacations for 7 days so I brought this so I could read one or two stories per day while reading all other novels at the same time. I was rather dissapointed in the first story, "The Skull Harvest" by Graham McNeil, I've read his other works and have enjoyed them, so I had high expectations, but was severely let down. So a Black Legion's Scaevolla has a grudge against the imperial fists and so he hunts and kills them.by Darren Cox follows a squad of Black Templar Sword Brethren as they try to gain access to a Chaos held fortress. The other stories, those tales of chaos marines or filler of the Salamanders were really well written, and interesting, but not what I expected in this collection. Fires of War' by Nick Kyme is easily the longest of the stories included in this book and although I feel that the story is somewhat overlong, it is nonetheless quite good. From reading this, you'd think every third Space Marine was a traitor of some sort, rather than being the nigh-on unbreakable fanatics they're supposed to be. For someone who's halfway through the Horus Heresy, a few of the stories were spoilers-lite, but nothing egregious.

It's a team of Deathwatch (as you probably know, they are taken from different chapters with different beliefs trying to work together. I don't know much about Salamanders and I couldn't connect with this tale because I didn't understand that much about them. Honour among Fiends' by Dylan Owen is the fourth story of the collection and is easily one of the best in the book. These miniatures are supplied unpainted and require assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel Colour paints. This was my first warhammer 40k book, and the only real thing it made me think was "Why would anyone even like the space marines?Renowned as some of the staunchest defenders of humanity, surely it is inconceivable that marines of the Crimson Fists Chapter would ever shrink from bringing death to the Emperor's enemies? In my opinion only 3 of the short stories are really worthy of the subject matter, and 2 of them are almost exactly the same.

This anthology features an Ultramarines series tie-in by Graham McNeill featuring the Iron Warrior Honsou, a prequel story to the Salamander series by Nick Kyme, a tie-in to the Imperial Fists series by Chris Roberson and Deathwatch and Night Lords stories, setting the stars ablaze with the fury of the Space Marines. Es müsste eigentlich "Heroes and Renegates of the Space Marines" heißen, denn ein großer Teil sind Geschichten über die Chaoten oder Renegaten. These specialists provide vital support as honour guards and aides – Company Champions defend their Chapter's honour with martial excellence, Ancients guard its inspirational banners, and Company Veterans lay down hails of fire from relic bolt weapons.Honsou is on New Badab in the heart of the Maelstrom with the intention to win the Skull Harvest, a contest between warbands where the champions of said warbands fight each other to determine which leader gets control of each other's men. Ten stories, with 5 of them being focused on Chaos Space Marines hardly makes for a "heroes" collection, but aside from that, the book was good. Each of the stories follows marines of either the Imperium or Chaos as they fight their foes and complete their missions.

Story three `Renegades' by Gav Thorpe is an okay story about a company of Avenging Sons Space Marines as they fight a loosing battle for the world of Helmabad. Finally One Hate is a rare example of an Aaron Dembski Bowden story that doesn't hit the mark, the crime in this case being that it's not very interesting. Die Geschichten sind von unterschiedlicher Länge und Qualität aber ein Kauf lohnt sich definitv für alle die Marines mögen - ob nun die "guten" oder die "bösen". The first story `The Skull Harvest' by Graham McNeill, sees the Iron Warriors Warsmith Honsou and his men compete in a tournament for the right to raise an army.Is the future of the beleaguered Chapter more important than the hate of the foe that provides their honour?
