I mustn’t lie and i have to say that i did shed a tear more than once throughout this book because in some ways i feel a personal connection to Daisy and to Jay. The way Jay behaved when everything came out made my blood boil and I was so invested and felt genuine anger and incredulity at how anyone could be so brazen. I really did not see this storyline panning out in the way it did and for that reason I've given it 5 stars. That, however, was not to be and it was not until the very last pages that i started to want for Marius and Daisy to be happy together. Now, for the benefit of the village, Daisy and Jay remarry in a lavish ceremony and wedding breakfast held at Creek Manor, that Jay inherited from his philanderous father, and in which they now live with Jay's mother Mary, Daisy's friend Hilda and her children. Poor Daisy is really an amazing character throughout the series, determined and ever ladylike she faces everything thrown at her head on with dignity and grace with her amazing support network of friends and servants I won't spoil the end of the book but it's apt and well deserved. I have been bought the set of three novels in this series by Court by a friend, as they are set in the nineteenth century and the first installment strongly involved a medical theme. The second book in the dramatic new Village Secrets trilogy from the Sunday Times bestselling author. I would like to thank NetGalley, HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction and the author Dilly Court for my ARC in exchange for an honest review. He escaped to Australia with his first wife and child leaving his third wife to manage his estate and a happy ending sees her marry a business parted who came to aid when she was in dire need.Daisy is a strong woman who will not give up hope, she takes up the running of the manor and turns it into a thriving business, always living in hope that Jay will be found. This is the second book in a series, it follows Daisy and her turbulent love life, but it's so much more than that, the plot and especially the setting are just right. Then the following morning, she is even more shocked to learn that Jay has decided to sail with the Lady Jane as seafaring is what he knows. The couple have lived a harmonious life together since their first wedding and Daisy could not be happier.
