Named ‘Old Car Smell’, the scent is based on the results of a nationwide social media campaign launched by Channel 4 Car SOS presenter Fuzz Townshend in partnership with the classic vehicle division of insurance brokers Carole Nash.

It took me flipping ages to track this little lot down and I will be using them, sparingly, in future projects. feu orange times have sadly been and gone- unless some your car has had them in from the 90's then your very lucky to have that scent ! Or at least an explanation as to why they had to change such a winning formula - thousands of '80s cabbies can't be wrong! Channel 4's Car SOS host Fuzz Townshend says, 'My top old car smells were leather and pipe smoke, so I’m not surprised they both made it into the top five. I want to get in the car and be reminded of drinking too much fizzy orange pop and throwing up on the way to flamingoland as a kid.The scent of old leather was found to be the most enduring aroma and was mentioned by nearly half (49%) of participants, who reminisced about 'burnt legs on hot seats' caused by 'weekend runs to the coast in the summer'. I saw that there was an attempt to do a pin-less version with a plastic puncturing tool but that never sold as well. So the brand belongs to Kraco, the product belongs to Polco and believe me it would seem the twain shall never meet. If I could find a stash of these beauties I'd snap them up in an instant, that smell is authentic motoring yesteryear.

This smell will take any car enthusiast back to the good old days, even if you're driving a 61 plate Ford Focus. Having had a certain brand of modern liquid car air freshener that leaked and melted an airvent and damaged the radio surround, never again will I go near one of them. The conclusion many arrived at is that the truly original Feu Orange, would be far too dangerous to produce in the more enlightened times we are living in now and couldn't possibly be supplied with a pin, and potential seepage of the highly concentrated liquid essence stripping paint from Volkswagen dashboards.

The smell of Feu orange transports me straight back to the late 80s when I was very young and going on holiday in my aunties mk3 Escort, good times. Now if they were taken off the shelves and replaced by a crappy upstart, I believe riots would begin. hell, what a shock, no longer available, I didnt realise, tells you when I last walked into a Halfrauds! No they are no longer made, many people on retrorides were looking them and contacted the company that makes them. Well I've been looking for years and my local motor factor said that the old skool style one was not made any more because, and I nearly choked on my tongue when I heard this, the pin could cause injuries to users.Might apeal to those who love their fake carbon, but to anyone wanting the retro look of the original.
