TRUTHEAR x Crinacle Zero:Red have a slightly better passive noise isolation performance than most true wireless earbuds with ear tips we’ve tested. So, as long as you play music, noise shouldn’t bother you. The ST5’s midrange is recessed and obscured by the aforementioned mid-bass bleed. Mid-lovers best stay away. Sibilance and fatigue are noted in the treble regions. The one positive about the tips is that they do have a decent length to them, unlike Moondrop Spring Tips that come with the CHUs. I don't find them as comfortable as the Spring tips, but the extra length does help protect the filter from ear wax. Using spring tips on both my CHUs and CHU IIs degraded the sound quality within 2 weeks thanks to my waxy ears. The tips included with the Zero REDs are comfortable enough and haven't led to the degradation of the filters and sound quality over time. In a QA stream, Crinacle claimed that the crossover had been overhauled to improve THD performance across the audible range. I don’t think it has much to do with better electronic components rather than changing the frequency where the drivers cross over to each other.

Zeros vs the Arias: I don't know why, but to me, these sound way, way better than the Arias to the point where I feel the Arias were defective. It definitely has more bass than the Arias, and a better soundstage. While I immediately returned the Arias, I had no such thought when I tried these on for the first time, and not sure if it's the burn-in, but I feel the Zeros have only grown on me since. Also, the Arias got uncomfortably sharp on occassions for my taste. The Meteor are not playing in the same league when it comes to technicalities. Clarity, imaging, instrument separation, micro-details, and transients are multiple steps behind the HEXA. Soundstage is slightly more expansive on the Meteor, but the hazy imaging and dearth of clarity make the music sound veiled and opaque. Build in general is good price considered. Its made of good quality plastic, feels ok in the hands. Faceplate is a change from previous zero, this time its red like the name. Shells are average to small size. They are light weight. Fit is good, quite comfortable even for long listening sessions. Fit stability is good as well. Fit breathability is average. This has a fat nozzle so proper fit might be a bit subjective to ear size. Score 3.75/5

Another aesthetic “feature” is the included “waifu” called Shiroi (many Chi-Fi headphones come with their anime waifu art). You even get a stand to place Shiroi somewhere your heart pleases. Things get very different as we move upward the frequencies, with the BL-05S being far more resolving in treble and mids. Imaging and separation are superior on the BLON as well. OH10 has superior soundstage any day, soundstage is a weakness on the HEXA. In terms of imaging, micro-detailing and instrument separation, perhaps HEXA wins slightly, but it is quite close.

You get decent airiness and texture from cymbal hits. There’s zero harshness, and you can easily listen even to songs you usually find piercing. Newcomer’s Note: This article is written towards those who have been in the hobby for a while and will feature discussions of frequency response graphs and measurements. If you’re unfamiliar with them, here is a great primer from Resolve on what those graphs are and how to interpret them. Feel free to join the Headphones.com Discord server where there’ll be plenty of hobbyists to answer any questions you might have. The RED retains the same 7.8 mm and 10 mm dual dynamic driver configuration of the Zero where the 10 mm acts as a subwoofer with a crossover at around 160 - 180 Hz. But beyond a simple re-tune, extensive work was done to modify the driver’s voice coils and revamp the crossover circuits for better performance. Furthermore, there’s an included 10 Ohm impedance adapter to further increase the bass response by leveraging the RED’s electrical impedance curve. Truthear advertises that the hexagonal design is intentional – it allows maximal compression of the shell cavity, thus providing lighter weight and a smaller volume, leading to improved comfort. Indeed, their marketing claims do not seem to be hyperbole!Fit is honestly not bad for me, fits quite well, but do note that the shell and nozzle are quite large. The only time the seal starts to lose its grip is when you really start shaking your head left and right. IEMs won’t fall off, but the ear tips slowly slide out of your ear canal. Mid-bass is utterly devoid of body and slam. The bass is thus solely defined by the sub-bass emphasis near 50Hz. As a result of mid-bass hollowness and a near 12dB rise in the upper-mids, midrange is dominated by the upper-registers.

Some budget hybrids show their true colors when complex or fast movements come into play – they exhibit incoherency, such as the DD bass being slower than the BAs or the timbre varying between driver types. The HEXA are highly coherent – they sound like a single driver set, with no peaks or troughs heard.Lower frequencies are ever so slightly boosted, adding some extra punch and sub-bass rumble when a song calls for it. However, the boost drops at around 125Hz and creates a slight dip between 150Hz and 250Hz. Looking at the metal nozzle grill and a bass vent, the holes are undoubtedly tiny enough to prevent water droplets from coming inside. However, we aren’t so sure about the cable connector.

Two sets of white S/M/L silicon tips for 6 pairs in total. Each set has a different bore size which will give a slightly different treble response. I used the medium size tips with narrow bores for this review. I did not like the 10 Ohm adpter on the REDs as it felt like the bass was just encroaching too much on the mids. It lost pretty much all the separation between the mids and lows and didn't provide enough of a boost to justify that loss of separation. Though I did like the adapter for certain songs on some of my cheaper IEMs, but it was a case-by-case basis. Happy with the Olina though, it has the largest stage of any IEM i’ve tried so far and for that reason alone it’s a keeper! With their magnificent imaging, solid ergonomics, first-rate isolation, and neutral sonic profile, I highly recommend the HEXA to musicians looking for a budget pair for stage monitoring or audio work. Comparisons

The upper mids are a tinge forwards without any shoutiness. Though, due to the aforementioned thinner note weight and not uberly-boosted upper midrange, vocals may sound a bit less bodied. Treble For this review, I will primarily be comparing the 7hz Salnotes Zeros to the Truthear Zero Reds. They both appear to be optically around the same size and the nozzles are the same width. These IEMs are made from medical-grade resin that’s 3D printed in a uniform body without any visible weak spots. That means they can easily survive daily use, drops, or being stepped on. Verder draagcomfort is prima, de behuizingen zijn nog geen Inear/KZ qua vorm, maar opzich zijn ze prima te doen, ook als je ze een paar uur in hebt.
